Dermal Fillers

FAQs

What are dermal fillers?

As we age, there is a reduction in collagen, elastin and volume. This can make our faces appear tired and sunken. Dermal fillers can replace loss volume, rehydrate the skin, and fill out fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers can also sculpt and also give lifting results that are non-invasive.

What is the downtime?

There is minimal downtime with dermal fillers. The most common side effects with dermal fillers is swelling, bruising and tenderness in the treated area and this can last for 3-5 days post-treatment. Before your procedure, your nurse will run through all the side effects and what to expect during your consultation.

Who is a good candidate?

Mature adults with healthy skin and moderate elasticity who are starting to show signs of ageing. A consultation with one of our practitioners is required to assess your suitability for treatment.

Where can dermal fillers be injected?

Dermal fillers can be injected into multiple areas of the face. These include:

  • Lips

  • Cheeks

  • Chin

  • Jaw

  • Tear trough

  • Temples

  • Nasolabial folds

When will I begin to see results?

Results are immediate and the change in volume can be seen instantly. Swelling after treatment is common and this can take up to 10-14 days to resolve completely. It is recommended to stay hydrated with water post dermal filler injections as dermal fillers are hyaluronic based and continue to draw in water which will affect the result of the dermal fillers.
